Don’t let the weather fool you! It’s almost time for spring auditions for the 27th Annual Senior Variety Show. Any Story County resident or employee (past or present) who is 60 years of age or older, is encouraged to try out for this year’s production, “Decades Deli—Serving up Your Favorites” set for Friday, August 18, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, August 19, at 2:00 pm at Ames City Auditorium.
An informational meeting/social for curious newcomers and past senior performers will be Thursday, February 23rd from 3:30-5:00 pm at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1416 20th Street, in Ames. Show director Julie Minot will be on hand to talk about her creative vision for the upcoming show at 4 pm. Vocal numbers, instrumentals, skits, story-telling, and dance presentations that depict any decade (from the Flintstones to the Rolling Stones and beyond!) are all within the scope of possibility. Each act must be under 3 minutes in length. If you can’t attend the social but are interested, please email Julie at juliejgminot@gmail.com or call 515-292-9394 with any questions you might have.
The actual auditions will be Saturday, April 1, 12:30-2pm and 2:30-4pm. Those who are putting a finishing touch on their acts will be seen a second time on Saturday, May 6, 12:30-2pm and 2:30-4pm, all at Northminster Presbyterian. If these times don’t work for you, the director will try to accommodate.
Whether as a performer or a volunteer, joining in this celebration of aging is a great way to meet people, share talents, have fun, and raise money for senior projects. For more information please visit us on Facebook and at www.seniorvarietyshow.org
